  1. Marketing the product thriugh television is tele marketing
  2. The two have been recently separated to distinguish the difference between those who merely do surveys and follow up customer service versus selling actual products and services.
  3. Telemarketing would be speaking to people on the telephone and asking them questions that would lead to a sales rep meeting. e.g "Have you ever considered replacing your kitchen?" Telesales would involve speaking to people over the phone and asking questions that would directly lead to a sale if the answers were yes. e.g "We have a deal on a 12 months subscription to kerrang magazine, if you sign up now we can get you an extra 6 months free, would you like to go ahead. do you know of anyone else who would benefit from this offer" The lines have merged now and it's very hard to distinguish between the two (it used to be easier) The difference was initiated because it's cheaper to have lots of telemarketing people setting up the appointments for a small team of sales than it is to have lots of expensive salespeople drudging through the majority of "no thankyous" Nowadays you can find your self applying for a telemarketing job but it's actually sales.
  4. telemarketing is asking questions on a tried product telesales is selling or cold calling.
