How do I get my headset and mic to work on my computer (altec lansing)? I am attempting to work from home and the company I am starting with said that I would need to have a headset w/mic to work with their autodialer. I have cable connection and when I click on the # to call on the computer it calls my home phone, and I can hear everything through the phone, but nothing on the headset. I called technical support for the company, but they said it would be 2 days before someone could get back with me. How does it work with a cable connection?
How can I get the school to take me off of their autodialer? They have called twice this weekend already, as well as once Friday. I called and complained before, and they took my home number off, but now they call me on my cell phone. They feel the need to notify me with a phone call every single time there is kindergarten registration (I have only one child), district meetings, when they are getting a new principal, etc. I can see why they would call if my child is sick or something, or if she's absent (she is in third grade, like I won't notice she's home sick anyway). How can I make them stop? Can I tell them to only notify me in an emergency, or what?
Can I being in CO sue a telemarketer in Canada? Having done a little legal research I discovered I can sue this annoying telemarketer that keeps calling me at 5 in the morning. However I live in Colorado and I have traced his call to Montreal, Quebec. Does anyone know if I can still sue this guy through my local small claims court? I'm getting really fed up with these early morning calls from an autodialer, especially when I'm on the DO NOT CALL LIST
I made arrangements with Triad bank to catch up my car payments. They still harass me twice a day. Legal? I got behind on my car payment to Triad bank and they accepted that I would catch up on the 1st of the month. I still get calls from collectors twice a day or more telling me I have to pay it earlier. They tell me that "the system doesn't recognise a verbal agreement" and that they "autodialer can't be turned off". My god, I made a deal, they accepted it and they still harass me constantly. Today the guy told me I absolutely had to pay it two days earlier than our deal was set for. Can they legally harrass me like that? I'm guessing they can or they wouldn't be doing it it...
Do you have AT&T billing problems? I have a long distance calling card programmed into my phone autodialer with frequently called international numbers. I do not have a long distance calling plan. Recently I received a phone bill from AT&T for OBSCENE charges for several international calls (over 100 times the rate I normally pay), which should have been billed to the calling card. AT&T insists I owe the money, but I believe they had a technical problem resulting in the call not being placed through the calling card as dialed. Since they are unwilling to budge, I am going to send them a reasonable partial payment and dispute the rest through the Attorney General's Consumer Fraud Division, and possibly Small Claims Court. I am looking to see if others have experienced this and AT&T is pulling some type of profiteering scam. Your experiences would be appreciated.
Why do Christians think that? Ok a few minutes ago I got a call from a credit card company on an autodialer offering me a credit card. Having dragged me out of a nice sleep I wasn't in the greatest of moods. The machine said that if I pushed 1 I would get to talk to an associate for further info. What do you know, but I got a real breathing human being on the other end. So I said to her, " I don't know how you f---ing a--holes you got my god ******* number but take me off your f---ing list right now. She said, "oh you shouldn't say that to me I'm a christian". I told her I didn't give a sh-- about what superstition you believed in just take me off you f---ing list. Why did she think that by telling me a that she's a christian would make any difference how I talked to her after intruding on my life? Well I've gotten several answers telling me I shouldn't say things like that. Too bad. The question is, why did she say she was a christian as if it would have made a difference (and it didn't)?

Is there a product that allows remote monitoring of light status only during certain hours? I need to remotely monitor an indoor environment where the lights need to stay off at night (between 5PM and 7AM). I would like to purchase a monitoring system that will alert me by telephone if the lights come on during that time. However I do not want to be called when the lights are on at their usual time (7AM to 5PM). Is there a product or combination of products like an autodialer (e.g., Sensaphone) together with a timer and light sensor (e.g., HOBO or Weatherduck) that will allow me to be notified of a lights-on condition only during the hours that the lights are supposed to be off? Any advice would be appreciated. The lights are already on a timer, but I do not have access to the timer (it is controlled by administrators in a different department). The timer fails regularly, and light exposure during the dark period of the cycle invalidates expensive, light-sensitive experiments. I cannot control the lights myself, the best I can hope for is to monitor them so that I can be informed of failures as they are happening. Thanks.

Can anyone suggest a good economical dial up modem that will work with Ubuntu linux? I would like to get rid of window$ completely, but none of my hardware is compatible with linux, or at least I can't find drivers. First I will need a dial up modem, then a display card. I have ati card with tv tuner. I love it. Is anything available like that for linux? Will linux support my mobo? Not completely I think. Usb2.0, via 4 in 1 . How can I make the transition. All I know is Windows, basic, and pascal. I grew up with Atari and TI994a. Also, how can I configure my people pc to dial direct without their autodialer cr*p. I am pretty sure that it wont work with ubuntu. I have tried to configure windows to dial direct, but it won't accept my password. My issue is hardware compatibility. I have found a modem. Thank you for the help.
